THE CONSTITUTION

2016
MICKAEL DE OLIVEIRA

Ágata Pinho, Miguel Moreira, Paulo Pinto and Pedro Lacerda are the heroes of a new society, as they’re invited to write a new Constitution, although none of them has any experience in the matter. They propose to write the most modern Constitution and engage in a debate in order to discover the best way to abridge this super text and still include ideas that will regulate, liberte, oppress and emancipate the future, while revising the principles that currently steer the State.

In The Constitution, Mickael de Oliveira conjures an accurate reenactment of the most important decisions taken by the performers during a short period of time in which they were isolate from the world, in order to write a perfect constitution for an imperfect community.

This show is part of the autor’s tetralogy, which seeks to think through several political, philosophical, public and private questions that shape our society: No(s) Revolution(s) [2015], The Constitution [2016], Socrates Must Die [2017-2018] and Sauna [2017].
